Got BtInfinity installed today, modem is synced at 38.5k and the profile is at the same according to BTspeedtest but I can only get max download rate of 17.5K what's going on with that? is the connection throttled?
 
oh that would suck I hope it improves. Output from the BTspeedtest below.

Are you using wireless?

On some setups things like MTU, RWIN, etc. can have an effect once you get past 10MBit/s.
 
main PC running off Homeplug network running at 60Mbit/s but also performed a speed test using PC directly conected to the router, result is the same.
 
If its like ADSL when first installed it will take a couple of days to find the stable sync and the speed profile is 1-2 days lagged behind that in catching up so you could be looking at a week or so til it gets upto full speed - if its is like the ADSL implementation.

True - but his IP Profile is ~38mbit. Therefore, chances are if it's going slower than that it's either internal network (apparently not!), or a contention issue further away from the phone line / house.
