Hi, I used to build my own PCs for many years, but at the last upgrade decided to buy a Dell desktop (xps 710) as it was for sale at a bargain price on their outlet. I realized at the time that it would be troublesome to upgrade due to the proprietary nature of the PSU and BTX form factor. Anyway, I have changed the graphics card twice and I'm now on a GTX 260 (216). Lately I am wondering about the rest of the system and whether I should bite the bullet and build a new PC from scratch. Here's my system specs at the moment:
Mobo: Nforce 590 SLI
CPU: QX6700 (will do 3.2Ghz using BIOS overclock)
RAM: 4GB DDR2 (667Mhz)
PSU: 750W
I tend to game at 1900x1200 and don't really have any performance problems at the moment. I mostly play flight and driving sims but like the occasional RTS and will buy ARMA2 soon. I guess my question is if I upgrade the graphics again (say 4870x2) will the rest of my system become a bottleneck - particularly the slow RAM and PCI-E 1.0 slots? If not, how much longer should I expect this setup to serve me? Thanks in advance.
