Hi all. I currently have a Dell e520 which I think has a BTX motherboard. Im still new to all this so not 100% sure. I want to start upgrading it all and I want to put it in a Coolermaster Storm Sniper Black edition case. Ive looked around and Im sure I can do this but can anyone confirm? Also Im looking to update the board and chip down the line and looking to get an i5. Anyone recommend a good board to go into the case that will fit this and a HD4850 gpu. Im on a tight budget so price is an issue but willing to save a little longer to get parts as long as its worth it. That said I still have to justify it to the misses so still has to be reasonable

iirc you cannot put a BTX motherboard in an ATX Chassis. Its orientated the other way round so that the CPU is fixed at the front of the chassis to get direct air cooling..

from what i could tell you could, just put it in the other way round, ie, upside down. BTX boards were (are?) the new standard, or supposed to be, so thought makers catered for them by making their cases more of a universal fit. seen a few builds in machines that look like they are btx boards in a 'normal' case but the board was just rotated 180 degrees
