I am having a bit of a dilema trying to find a BTX power supply to go into my Optiplex GX620 chassis. I have seen a Tagan 2Force 430W PSU that says it will support the BTX standard but nowhere on the Tagan website does it mention BTX. Does anyone know of a decent BTX PSU? And also does anyone know if a GX620 takes a standard size PSU?

Cheers,

Craig

Ill take a pic and do some measurements when I get home - just at work on site at the moment! :)

Right then, here be some pictures - the back of it will fit a normal PSU fine I think. Just need someone to confirm the 24-pinouts.

By the way - I have a Tagan TG480-U01 here, its the older model of the 2Force PSUs, if I buy a 20pin to 24pin splitter (assuming pinouts are the same) would I be able to use it?

Cheers,
Craig

Right I have done a bit of digging about, and the missing pin on my 24pin connector is the -5v line, and I dont *actually* know what the brown cable going into the orange one does. Does this sound right? Cheers,

Craig

Thanks for the info spit, here is a picture of the inside of my case with a tape measure held up to it (it looks longer in the pic but its only about 1" longer than the Dell PSU)

I will try and phone up Dell today and find out if I can plug in a normal 24pin connector, or if I really need a special BTX one - as I have seen plenty of 20pin ATX to 24pin BTX convertors around and they are wired exactly the same as the 20pin ATX to 24pin ATX convertors.

Well I eventually got it working! My Tagan was indeed the TG480-U01, but an older version without the SLI connectors. It was actually a 24-pin connector on it but my observations were a bit shoddy :p Anyway to cut a long story short, I stuck in the PSU and prayed that it didnt blow my motherboard (or anything else inside the PC) - Dell had said I could use a BTX-Compliant PSU, but they couldnt say "Yes" incase I went back to them when it blew up and said they told me to do it. Thanks for all your help, especially split :) Karma to you (it comes around eventually)
