OK
so i just done an availability test on bt website and said that i can get up to 4.5 mbps. So i thought "sweet" as it only used to be 2mb.

so i went to my acount profile and also found out that my account has been up graded to 8mbps connection. ( option 4 on btyahoo)
so in logic that means i should be getting 4.5 mbits ps?

I just saw my ADSL connection speed on my router and i find its saying 2280 kbps.

now im sure thats an equiverlent of a 2mb connection.
whats going on here?
cant i get 4.5 mbps connection ?

I have a linksys WAG54G router.
probs with latest firmware.

You have to click "Upgrade" in your account options. You will then re taken to the BTYahoo website with the 4 options on the screen. You then need to click upgrade on "Option 4" Fill out all the details and you will get a regrade date. By upgrading you have to sign up for another 12 months with BTYahoo btw and at the moment 8mbps regrades are only available to "Option 4" subscribers.
I think its a plot to tempt everyone over to "Option 4"
Good luck.

Oh BTW i have had this in my account info for ages to but am still connected at 2.2Mbps

Product:
BT Broadband Option 4 - Product details

Usage allowance:

Speed:

ok thanks for that. it really helped and my 4.5mb connection should be coming on the 20 th :D

i see i didnt have to redo my billing which was all good.

anyway. thanks

Yeah that part of it changed over smoothly for me too, I was expecting it to make another account and then have to ring up and talk to a load of people who i cant understand and wait on hold for ages. :p

a lot of people say BT yahoo and BT broadband is all "noobish" because there expensive etc etc.

But i dont think so. they have great service and im sure were getting moneys worths than having trouble getting things to work. ;)

I don't know whether to regrade and be tied to the contract for another 12 months or to change provider, who is better than BT? wouldn't touch NTL with a barge poll by the way

i rekon BT is pretty good. my friend got fed up for somereason and tried moving to bulldog net.
his having so much problem now, the start wasnt good either. it took them 2 weeks to sort his phone up which meant he didnt have any contact with outside!!1one.

but i guess its all down to you.

lol im glad people are benefitting from this. all thanks to Si Lad

i had nothing but excellent service from bt since the trials in 97' but recently got the excessive use letter so moved to ukonline.......18mb connection for £29.99 the same as i was paying bt........

40gb cap on 8mb is just silly, but there you go
