Budget: £160 ish - spec me

Because I have a 660 upgraded from a 560 ti and the only thing keeping me back is the vram on games such as Skyrim modded.

Cheers for the recommendations there guys, is it much of an upgrade to a 470? Its for my brother (again!)

How far off a 7970 is it just so I can gauge it.

Is a 470 majorly behind it? :)

Edit: My brother now informs me his budget is 200-220. Any change on recommendation for a card?

I've used a 560ti Boost as a rough equal to a GTX470 (650ti Boost > 560ti > 650ti ~ GTX470), and as you can see the 270x is faster :

I've once again used the 560ti Boost as the equivalent :

No change. He would need to up the budget to at least £250, or preferably a little more to find something faster than the 270x (like a 280x / GTX770). The only card that sits around the revised budget of 200 - 220, is a GTX760, which is only slightly faster yet costs a good deal more (200+).

This would be my choice of 270x (the same one linked further up) :

Oh that is good!

Thanks for the replies guys, seems all the Nvidia similar spec/performance cards are so much more expensive £ per performance.

My brother needs a new card pretty sharpish as his keeps crashing the PC at temps around 70c!

Buy that one, has good amount of vram which will last a few years if not more and performance is good too :)

AMD could really do with a 7950 stile 280 (None X) for the £180 to £210 mark.

Currently £150 270X to the £240 280X is to bigger gap in price and performance.

He doesnt have the money until tomorrow due to the banks being closed and I can't afford to buy it for him, looks like they might all be gone by tomorrow! Which is a shame :(
