I had it all planned out but wife intervened after she saw the budget of my new system.

So here goes a budget build around the 2500K for the upcoming BF3 game.

MSI GTX 560Ti Twin II/OC (prev MSI GTX 570)
2500K
Crucial 64GB M4 (prev 128GB, really wanted the added speed increase)
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard
Kingston HyperX Genesis 4GB (prev 8GB HyperX)
Gelid Tranquillo Rev2 (prev Corsair H60)
Xigmatek Asgard Case (prev Corsair 400R)
X-Fi XtremeSound (recycled)
Corsair HX620W (recycled)

That's a 270 quid saving and wife is giving the green light.

Are the cutbacks appropriate or do you think I will need the extra juice of the GTX570 to run BF3 or perhaps the 8GB for gaming?

I don't think you "need" 8GB for gaming but the difference between 4GB and 8GB is a no brainer usually, its like an extra couple of ££s.

I have the Gelid Tranq and it will easily cope with the 4.5Ghz oc so I wouldn't worry about that.

Is there any reason you wanted that mobo - I wouldn't call that a "budget" mobo?

I doubt you would be able to physically tell the difference in speed between 64GB / 128GB?

Firstly thanks for the response, appreciate it.

The Extreme3 Gen3 is actually quite cheap in Asia where I live. Around 95 quid.

You've put my mind at ease. Cheers man.

What is your spec and do you use the stock Gelid fan?

Reading up on this, the consensus is that 2GB is worth it only for SLI.

Goes like this. The card is not fast enough to use 'ultra' settings, with extra textures and eye candy.

I am still unsure about this tbh.
