Hey guys, I'm currently half way through building my new skylake build and sorting out my new man cave :D.. I've come to a bit of a problem though.. My girlfriend is getting a bit jealous I think, and she now wants to move on from her laptop and have me build her a PC!

I'm trying to do this on a tight budget of course because I'm still doing my build, but all she really needs the PC for is light internet browsing, music possibly, world of warcraft and maybe the Sims lol.

I know world of warcraft is more of a CPU hungry game, so I was going down the Intel route, but I just can't seem to find anything less than 500 including OS!

I was looking at a 750ti gpu for £99
and i3 4170 for 100ish, then I found the G3458 for about 40£ cheaper, but not as strong as the i3. All the rest is fairly basic:
550w g2 evga PSU for £70,
asrock pro4 for £70 (I should also mention it has the be micro atx as I have a spare case),
8gb of corsair vengeance 1600mhz for £38,
OS is 78ish,
And a 1tb barracuda for £35.
All comes to a total of 460 with the cheaper Intel CPU over the i3.

Sorry about the vague details but I detest typing on this damn tablet lol..
Anyway if you guys can come up with anything cheaper (will go AMD if needed!) then please, fire away

(I should probably have said in the title mainly for war craft, but hey ho)

Cool thanks, you saved me 70 with the PSU and Mobo. I was only going EVGA g2 as ive heard good stuff about them, but they are made by Superflower aren't they? its gunna be a squeeze with it being non modular though! lol but in total, its at 390 now :D A lot better! Cheers

can't post basket from work!

If you wanna save some more cash to bring it back in line with budget, go for a 120gb ssd and maybe a cheaper case.

Re-use your old HDD for media storage :)

As I understand it, most modern MMOs will benefit from more than two cores, having to keep track and draw the positions etc of so many other players and what not.

i could be totally wrong to be honest, But i'm certain I read an article linked on here a while back about the multi=threaded performance of warcraft, and that there was a good boost in performance going from 2 to 4 threads, but not as significant a jump from 4 to 6. It was from some Polish review site if memory serves correct. Can't find it for the life of me.

There's a Tom's Hardware article on the same subject, but it's a Tom's Hardware article. And it's from 2010 so do with that what you will:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/world-of-warcraft-cataclysm-directx-11-performance,review-32061-9.html

Anyway, it's 2015, and you should be on a quad core by now, especially at that price :P

Whichever route you take, If you are considering that 750ti, I'd strongly urge you to consider that 950 I linked, as although its (less than) 20 quid more it will give you a much better experience, and last you longer. It's a good deal on that MSI card if you ask me, considering some 950s are priced near 960s.
