Hi,

Is my parts list below over the top for what I will be using my new PC for?
I will mostly be running auto cad, photoshop and wataching films. The systems needs to be upgradable in the future should I want to add bits to it, such as new grpahics card, RAM ETC .

One last thing, will all my parts be compatible with my motherboard.

My basket at overcloackers:

I'd make a few comments. £55 on RGB controller for a £800 build is a lot of the budget with no performance benefit. I'd get LEDs of the colour you want and stick with them or get a set of generic RGB strip with a controller. much cheaper.

The cooler is also expensive for what it is.

an SSD would be highly preffered over HDD

that motherboard and cpu are an old generation so would be better to get the latest really. 8gb of RAM is ok but worth getting 16 IMO.

You dont need as much as 600W on psu, go for something nearer 450W and that will still be easily enoigh for cpu and GPU, probably even SLI. Then you can also probaly get something higher quality too.

unless you have a speicifc use for the DVD drive you can often do without them these days.

I generally recommended home plugs over wifi but if thats not an option then wifi is ok.

Thanks for the reply roverno much appreciated. I like the kit you posted on your last reply I might actually go for that :-), especially like the case. Can you recommend a graphics card to go with that kit ?

Thanks

Depends how much you want to spend, what resolution your monitor is and what your total budget is. If you can answer those i can recommend a card.

i was thinking buying the HP Envy Curved 34c Quad-HD IPS Media Monitor,

as for the graphics card i was thinking of spending about £250,
i might go for this card,

GeForce GTX 1060 SC 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Im not sure what graphics technologies your software can take advantage of so i can't give you the best advice there but i wouldn't bother with the small version of the 1060 as you dont need the small size. You end up spending more for less. You can probably spend a lot less than £260 to get what you need. If you can use AMD for your software then an RX470 is probably enough.

I love that you're going with 8GB of RAM for a productivity machine.

Seriously though at least 16 should be the baseline. My friend is a graphic artist and he was hitting walls with 8GB seven years ago.

Well guys, my kit turned up today at 1:30 this afternoon and it was all put together by 4:30 pm;). In all honesty it was simple, booted first time

I can honestly says I won't be buying any PC's from Currys or any other retail stores ever again. The most difficult part in the whole process was installing the V6 cool master CPU cooler as it was abit fiddly. Apart from that it all went smoothly.

I Just need to sort out the storage as all the files I'm currently downloading is getting saved on to my SSD drive and not the SATA drive as I would like it to, but I'm sure I will figure it out.

Thanks for your help Roverno much appreciated :)

I did end up installing 8GB RAM, but not to worry I will be ordering two more sticks very soon to make up to 16GB. All I need now is some case lighting.

P.S overclockers, I'm so impressed by your service, first class.
