Hello fellow enthusiast.

I've decided to build a second PC for when I am not at home wanted it to be modestly 'ok' but trying to stick to a budget, for that reason I've chosen AMD and Radeon as the heart of the system.

I couldn't find a system builder that I've seen folks use here so heres a link to the exact parts I chose.

*** no competitor links please ***

GIGABYTE GA-970-Gaming SLI (rev. 1.0) AM3+/AM3 AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz (4.1 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W
CORSAIR Hydro Series H60
MSI Radeon RX 480 DirectX 12 RX 480 ARMOR 4G OC
Team Elite Plus 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Corsair Carbide Series 100R
SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W ATX12V
SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III

Ideally I'd like to strike at around £600 there is wiggle room in there.

Thank you for your time.

Wouldnt be building anything AMD based i would be looking at intel or waitng for AMD Ryzen to be released.
Is that strictly based upon the fact that the new amd cpu is coming out or avoid amd in total.

The amd choice was purely financial.

Thanks

Avoid Amd its old tech going intel will give you a far better perfomance and upgrade path. Take a look at the G4560 with a it has hyperthreading puts it on par with an i3.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £616.88
(includes shipping: £0.00)

The new AMD chips you will have to wait and see how they perform, as for your build you have chosen a kabylake cpu for that to work on the motherboard you have picked will need a bios update. So go for a Z270 or B250/H250 chipset motheboard alternatvely get a skylake cpu to fit the board.

As you are not overclcoking then the later B250/H250 boards mite be a cost effective choice, not sure you need a cpu cooler unless you want quiet.

Get low profile ram if your going for that cooler the ram you have chosen is tall and preferablly 2400mhz ram.

Do be careful about cumulative shipping costs when ordering from multiple suppliers. It's often worth buying slightly more expensive components from one source if you'll save on shipping.

Wait, for he love of God wait.

AMD's new Ryzen chip is shaping up to be a corker, and at the very least it should push down intel prices. We're days away and AMD could really do something special.

Hudson, competitor links are not allowed. I removed one already, you posted it again - Please don't do that. Thanks.

Ok gents, I shall wait until mid march before making a move.

Apologies to the mods didn't see the first warning as replied on my mobile.

I hadn't honestly consider mini itx, would there be any complications in regards to going itx, i.e. smaller generally being more expensive?
