Hi all.

after a budget digital camera for a holiday to fuertaventura coming up. will probably be taking around 100 photos. prefer a point and click so just looking for one that is easy to use, lightweight and a bit rugged (in case we drop it) that also has a decent resolution (photos will later be upscaled and printed for a photo album)

budget up to £100, and don't mind delving into the second hand market but thought id ask in the photography section here if anyone recommends a particularly standout camera thats simple to use and has the best quality within the budget.

Thanks and happy holidays! :)

EDIT: one with video capabilities would be great too, but not essential :)

Second edit: for reference, I've seen the Sony WX220 thats within budget, looks good, built in wifi (didnt realise this was mainstream in cameras now but hey ho!) but im wondering if it will be ideal for my needs. Bridge cameras appeal but obviously they aren't pocket friendly!

A £100 compact camera is only going to beat your average phone when it comes to zoom, as the sensor size is so small.

The sensor on the WX220 (1/2.3") is only very slightly larger than the sensor in your average phone, and it's the same size as the sensor in the Google Pixel, and Xperia Z's, whilst some Nokia Lumia's actually have a larger sensor. The WX220 doesn't even output RAW, which most modern phones are capable of now.

End of the day, if you're buying a budget compact, it'll be because your phone is really old, or you don't mind shelling out £100 for zoom functionality. Modern phones have effectively killed the small sensor compact camera.

yeah, for 100 quid I would probably just consider your phone. If your phone is old then look second hand.
