Hi guys, im looking for a budget card for my little brothers computer and im looking at the OcUK GeForce 8600 GT 512MB

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-075-OK

only thing im asking about is the picture displays a VGA port yet there is no sign of a VGA port in the description and it says its dual dvi and has only one DVI in the picture, I am slightly confused, if anyone has one of these kicking about could they tell me what it does have or does it vary?

It;'s a decent card for the price, but don't expect to be running the latest games at any high res's... what will he be running and what res?

Cheers Pug

Picture is only representative - although all the ones I've seen have 1x VGA, 1x DVI - generally they come with a DVI to VGA adapter if its 2x DVI - but if its an OEM card it might not come with one of these.

8600gt or gts is fine for counter strike source, tf2 and the like as long as he has a core2duo or similar. i got 169fps in counter strike source test with my 8600gts (and it didnt even need a power cable) brilliant for the budget user who doesnt want to upgrade psu (store brought pcs? :( and the like). 6000 3dmark06 points, shame it died otherwise i would have kept it.

damn hope im not too late had to pop out the lab to get some bits.

if your going for the 8600gt get the 256mb ones that come with ddr3 ram. they give better performance than the 512mb ddr2 counterparts at higher rez stuff.

Now I have decided what to put in my monster PC from this new batch of cards :D
