Recently upgraded my system. Left the GPU for the time being as i currently have a 9800GTX+

My system now includes

I5-2500K
8GB DDR3
Z68AP-D3

Was wondering what a decent upgrade would be? I dont want to splash out loads for a card! say, £100, £120 tops.

Was also thinking about previous cards that i might be able to get on ebay, say the Nvidia 4 series etc?

I dunno about fleabay and wouldn't do it myself.

Best at that price bracket second hand would be yeah the Nvidia 470 or AMD 5870.

Best brand new is this:

what about

2 x Gigabyte GTX 460, (768 MB) in SLI? for about £120?

Also, has anyone herd of this company before?

skip link

a) You shouldn't link to, or mention, competitors of OcUK so please edit that out.

b) Your motherboard doesn't support SLI so unless you're into trying a hack to get it to work you can forget about it.

Honestly...I dont know!

Wasnt that impressed with my last ATI Card. Have always used Nvidia since then.

Looking like a 6850 Though for my budget i think! Unless i can get a decent 460/470

I am in a similar bind, but upgrading from a GT8800, which is really overheating atm.

Is the GT 550 ti an option, or does the ati 6850 out do it?

I upgraded my old pc from an A64 4200 and an 8800GTX to an i5 2500k and a 1gb GTX 460. I'm definitely happy with the GTX 460. Skyrim and BF3 both run well even at 1920x1200.

At what settings?

Skyrim on everything high and all water reflections turned on. I'm not sure about all the view distances because I'm not on my home PC. BF3 everything on high, motion blur off. Skyrim is perfectly smooth. BF3 drops into the sub 40's occasionally but I haven't had time to tweak the settings properly because I've only played it a few times before getting sucked into Skyrim. My 460 is overclocked though (850 clock, can't remember the memory clock).

I went for the far more inferior 550ti for £70 at a high street retailer.
It seemed like a good price, and will suffice till I upgrade my PC later next year.
