Need a card for a second setup which wont run 3d heavy games.
Preferably a card which does not share ram, but can produce good 2d and basic 3d. PCI express.

It may end up streaming to a Plasma, so I guess it will need HD support? Are there any cheap cards around with this?

Or should I just try and find a previous gen. High end card used? Seen x800XT/x850XT for £50, and they are fine cards.
 
Best remove that mate, you will get a short ban for that I think.

I would go for a 2nd hand x800 based card. As you said they are going for under £50 in PCI-E form and will give you far better performance than any new card will for the under £50 bracket.
