Hi all, please can someone look at the below.

My current machine has been asking to replaced for a little while now and I'm just trying to sort out what I want ready to buy in the middle of next month! I want it to be simple and reliable but with enough performance to last (my current mid spec athlon 3200 64, and radeon 9800 pro is 2 and 1/2 years old now!). The flaw is I cannot carry any parts over from the existing PC as the hard disks are even older and the dvd rom does not read half of the current discs!

The machine will mainly be used for games but also for editing my photographs. I do not want to overclock.

I'm pretty sure I want the Dual Core E6600, 2GB memory and 8800GTS of some description. I need help with choosing a motherboard (cheap but not to cheap!) and is the PSU in this case up to the job. Also do I need to spec up the memory/graphics card? I've not put prices on as hopefully the parts will be cheaper in a few weeks!! Total budget of £750 inc, ideally nearer £650.

I put together a PC like that for ~£700 and I was able to include 2GB of WAY better Corsair RAM.

Maybe go down to a 320gb hard drive & up to some nice Corsair RAM?

I quickly put together the below spec using the same case that you had chosen. You might want to upgrade the PSU in it though.

Hey Mofokilla isn't that an AMD board?

If the OCUK stuff goes wrong then it goes back to OCUK? not a post off to corsair? The corsair stuff is only £7 more at the moment so it's not a massive difference

Anymore thoughts on the PSU/Board? I actually like the really cheap asus cases so I could change to that and a suitable PSU.

Is the Antec Solo Quiet Mini Tower Case the same only with no PSU? What is the Sonata 2 PSU like these days, I have an older one and it is a fab case but I do not know about the PSU!

PSU prices always scare me and add more money to the system hence picking the PSU/Case combo

How about this bad boy? Still needs a CPU cooler but it is pretty near the £650 mark (you could maybe get a larger harddrive or slightly faster graphics card for a bit more money)...

Thanks all ! Can anyone check my slightly revised spec? I've slightly blown the cheapness but then I need to buy an os and screen. Can anyone suggest any corner cutting for this? What are the chepaer antec cases and psus really like, should I lose the more pricey case and get a 640MB 8800 GTS

Thanks
