This is a first time build for me. I have a mouse, windows , keyboard and monitors handy but looking for a bit of help on the components. Ideally I would like to play most games on at least high (eg. Skyrim, Arkham City) and possible video/photo editing in the future.
Thanks in advance.

I wouldnt mind getting a Intel Core i3-2120 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor instead and use the money saved from that for more RAM and a heatsink fan

Consider the G840 then as that saves you even more money.

The G840 for gaming is very close to the i3. I've used an nvidia 460 as it's better than the 6850 and also gives you cuda support to make up for the loss of quicksync.

Z77 mobo can boost the GPU with the IGP and it's ready and waiting for you to drop in an i5K once they are a good second hand buy. PSU is modular which is very handy and is adequate for a single GPU setup.
