Greeting all, it's been years since I've built a PC so would really appreciate advice on what processor and GPU I should be looking for.

PC will be for my 17yr old daughter she only play fairly basic games like Genshin impact, roblox etc, but want something that could handle something like Apex legends too.

£50 a decent case
£60 PSU (corsair/seasonic/be quiet)
£55 16GB of Corsair ram
£50 500gb Samsung SSD
£110 windows 11
= £325

so £400 ish left for mobo cpu and GPU

Questions:-
1. £130 CPU - would I be better off buying 10th Generation i5 or 12th generation i3 since they are around the same price? not too worried about the future proof aspect of socket changes

2. under £100 Mobo depending on the above any recommendations

3. £100-150 GPU - I was thinking I could save some cash by buying a second hand GPU off ebay like a AMD RX 5XX or nVidia 10XX - any recomendations OR is there anything under £200 new that is good enough?

4. Windows 11 over windows 10 any issues here

any help here would be great :-)

I think i'd go for an i3-12100F because its 1700 socket type which the next gen of intel will also be using. Its cheap and is great for gaming even with mid range cards.
Like Tam said, you can get copies of OEM digital only windows for like £10-£15. With those savings you can probably get yourself an amd 6600 xt or used 2060 super etc.

Okay sound advice thanks both of you

Think I will go for the i3-12100F then probably just a budget ASUS/Gigabyte H610 mobo combo like this https://www.******.com/1415439-gigabyte-h610m-h-ddr4-matx-motherboard-h610m-h-ddr4

I had a case in mind that's why I budgeted £50, I don't mind spending £20 more on a case since that is the only part you see everyday :-) https://silverstonetek.com/en/product/info/computer-chassis/FARAH1M/

Only thought Samsung because I am a bit of a fan for their storage, but I could drop that requirement if i can save and its still reliable.

As for saving on Windows going OEM, wow didn't know. Any suggestions for reliable sites to get the keys from, is it allowed to be mentioned on the forum

yeah, try the wd sn570/550 that's a good mid-range pcie3 ssd
can go for cheaper ones but make sure they're decent brands (eg crucial, intel, corsair, kingston, wd, seagate, silicon power, toshiba)

can do, cases are all very subjective

if you're never going to upgrade the cpu then yeah can opt for a cheap h610 board, however this will severely limit your options if you choose to upgrade the cpu later down the line

AMD Ryzen 5 5500 Desktop Processor (6-core/12-thread, 19 MB cache, up to 4.2 GHz max boost) £130 - competitor
Asus Prime B550-Plus (AMD AM4) B550 ATX Motherboard £133 - OCUK
Team Group Vulcan Z T-Force 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-25600C16 3200MHz £55.99 - OCUK
Crucial P2 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe Internal SSD £64 - Competitor
Kolink Modular Power 600W 80 Plus Bronze Modular Power Supply £49.99 - OCUK
BitFenix Nova Mesh TG SE A-RGB Midi-Tower £52.99 - OCUK
Windows 10 Home key - £10 google it :D

Subtotal £495.97

Leaving £200 for a GPU and you can pick up an Nvidia 2060 for just under £200 off everyones favourite auction site

Yes technically it is a system on the AM4 socket which is now approaching end of Life with AM5 launching the other day but it would be a very strong build to last for a long time and there would be nothing to stop you buying a used 5800x3d and dropping it in, in a few years time for cheap to extend the life of the pc for another year or two.
