Hoping to pull in something around £600 that includes a 970. My nephew desperately wants a gaming PC, and the best I could seem to price one at was around £700. However the budget is not mine, its his mothers, and she wont go over £600.

This seems to be the best I can come up with i5-6400, 8GB DDR3, 240GB SSD (I have some spare HDDs for him) and a 970. Seems pretty decent for £609.

If anyone can do better please feel free. The PC's focus is pretty much 100% gaming btw.

Don't discount an i3 for gaming. He'll not notice any discernible difference when paired with a 970, especially at 1080p

That's true, the skylake i3 and i5 are very close comparatively when 1080p gaming with that card. The cpu in this build definitely won't be near it's limits, so I suggest scaling it back to an i3 to save costs. Also the build you specified doesn't an OS, do you already have the iso and code?
