Hi all, I am after a budget gaming build if you would...

i already have a TFT screen, a gaming mouse, keyboard, mousemat and a SATA hard drive. I already have windows too.

The games i'd be playing would be counter strike source... and a few older games. So would not need to be too expensive...
 
£200-£250 to get:

case, mobo, psu, processor, ram, gpu...

Theres a nice deal on the OCUK website for a desktop PC that ive just noticed, it just doesnt have a gpu..

You may want a SATA DVD drive also?
 
just need the main bits really, little bits like that i can add in the future. i have a dvd-rw drive from an old computer that i could use for now.

You don't mention if your old DVD-RW drive is SATA also? There's no IDE connection on that motherboard. It will be quite tricky to install a operating system/games without a DVD drive :p

To be fair CS: Source is pretty old, 6 years or more maybe. Call of duty Modern Warfare runs perfectly fine on my IGP as do the old total war games.

What were the other titles you intended to play? If the IGP can run your games then the £100 for the 6850 could be used to up the core spec of the system.

Obviously i t would be nice to have a dedicated GPU but you are on a tight budget here. Could always add a GPU later no?
 
not planning on playing any other games really, used 2 play at quite a high level at cs source, so just getting back into that really. ive literally pld about 4 games in the last 10 years.. pretty set in my ways lol.

just priced up a Socket 775 mobo, a intel core 2 duo e6600, and an ati 1048mb gfx card, with kingston 2x4gb DDR3 ram and a OCUK psu for around £200...

will have to check with you if they are compatible, and if my IDE DVD-rw would also work (thanks for pointin that out, didnt even think of that)
