Budget gaming/htpc system

Hi all

It's been a while since I've looked at pc hardware, as I've been perfectly happy with my current setups. However, I'm debating the choice between building a pc for my gaming and media needs, or getting a console.

As such, I'd like to try and keep the prices similar, say £400 max. I already have a windows key, as well as all the required peripherals, so the budget is purely for the case and components. A silent running system would be ideal, but I obviously expect some noise in games.

A friend of mine wants me to build his son a school/light gaming rig for £500, this build looks perfect.
He already had a 1080p TV so would just need a DVD drive and OS, i take it this would be better than a APU based PC?
