My nephew is looking for a new wired mouse to replace his Apple Magic Mouse for is iMac. He wants it to have programmable buttons so that he can map a 'look behind' option whilst playing Minecraft online.

He said his budget is £20 but I think he might need to spend perhaps up to £30 looking at the majority of mouse prices.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

For years I used a £8 Dell Optical mouse with forward and back buttons on the sides, anything with them would work as keybinds can be rebound ingame. Kinda like one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-049-GI&groupid=702&catid=23

There is a bit of a gap in the market for mice, I was looking around £30 and to get anything special it seems you need to spend about £45, and below £30 there isn't much between a basic mouse and a cheap 'gaming' one except some LED's and maybe a sniper button.

If I go cheap, I'd rather have a disposable office mouse than a cheap gaming mouse. Most of them have flashy gimmicks, at the expense of horrid quality (buttons, scrollwheel, cable, drivers...). In general market for cheap gaming hardware is kiddies.

CM Storm Alcor would be my lower limit. Quality is OK, no drivers. Wheel on the Alcor is a bit heavy. Shape of the Xornet is a bit weird (same as CM Storm Spawn).
