Cooler ID Cooling frozn a410

Board Asus prime b760m-1 wifi ddr5

Ram Crucial pro ddr5 6000mhz cl36, 2x 16gb

Gpu MSI Geforce RTX5060 8gb shadow 2x oc

Psu Corsair RM750e fully modular

Case MSI mag force 100R

What is your budget for the PC? What resolution/refresh will he be playing at? Are you going to build it yourself or are you looking for a prebuild?

Either way, I wouldn't touch Intel right now for gaming, especially not Raptor Lake, the series has well known problems with degradation over time and buying one is a gamble.

I'd also opt for a 16gb GPU, you don't want to buy into an 8gb model as he'll run into VRAM issues sooner or later.

Worth pointing out the 7600 with either a 9060xt 16gb or 5060ti 16gb will run offa 550w PSU without breaking a sweat. Possibly saving money.

Kolink single tower coolers are £10 right now I think and nicer than the stock AMD cooler.

Great deal on the 5060 ti'ss but still £50 more than a 9060xt 16gb.

My i5 12400F was decently priced and performs well. If they wanted intel then 12th gen probably their best bet right now.

16gb seems high for those games

It might be for those, but given it's not a huge price increase over the 8gb model it's worth it for the long run. An engine update down the line could make things problematic that wouldn't be with more VRAM, or he could start playing some other game that would be restricted.

I was running out of VRAM on a 3060ti with 8gb of VRAM in some situations 3-4 years ago, even on an ultra-budget I'd still opt for something like a B580 for the 12gb over an 8gb card.

Great timing for a thread. I'm doing something similar for a friends kid. Budget slightly higher at £950+vat.

I did a quick look and came up with:

9600x
fan cooler
B850 mobo
5060ti
2tb nvme
2 x 16g @ 6000
750w psu
nasty rgb case
