Hi guys, hoping some of you could lend your expertise in helping me figure out what to go for...

Was looking to upgrade my PC somewhat but after pricing up different parts I might be better off getting a new build.

THis is the sort of thing I came up with, does this look alright for general gaming?

I'm not too bothered about having everything maxed out but my current PC is starting to struggle on newer games... Budget is about £500 but I'd rather spend less if possible with that in mind i also came up with this

A more budget version but would there be a huge difference in performance?

Also fine with purchasing the parts separately if that'd work out a lot better.

I'm open to any suggestions afraid this really isn't my strong point :p Wouldn't be looking to overclock or anyhting so would prefer a decent set up from the get go and I guess the best 'bang for buck'.

Cheers :)

Don't get the AMD dual core processor. Minimum should be this quad core or the FX six-core. Or Intel i3. If you think you may in time upgrade the processor, go with Intel. CPU upgrade options not as good with AMD.

250GB SSD would be preferable for OS, programs and fave games.

If anything prebuilt and from this site then something like this be more substantial.

  • 1 x OcUK Kinetic H2 - Intel H110 Configurable Skylake Micro ATX DDR3 Gaming Cube = £492.04

Hey guys, sorry to be a pain... Just trying to figure out the best way to go before I start shopping :p

I was wondering if any of my current set up might be worth keeping before splashing out on a new system?... The case and operating system are fine but anything else I'm not sure...

What I currently have is;

Intel i3 3220
8gb RAM
AMD Radeon HD7700
Cosair CX430 psu

Anything worth keeping? Any money saved/better spent elsewhere'd be a bonus :)

if your going with amd i recomend this mother board and it is very cheap

100% All Solid Capacitor design
Supports AM3+ Processor, 8-Core CPU
Supports Dual Channel DDR3 2100+ (OC)
2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 Slots, Support AMD Quad CrossFireX™ and CrossFireX™
4 x USB 3.0 (2 Front, 2 Rear), 6 x SATA3
Supports XFast 555, X-Boost, Fast Boot, Restart to UEFI, Dehumidifier, OMG, Internet Flash, APP Shop

you need to get another intel based system , as in a lot of games the amds you've listed may actually be 'slower' than your i3
your hd7700 is woefully inadequate
youd be better off getting a decent gpu first ie rx480 and possibly ssd and psu

Save your money and get an i5-3xxx CPU and spend more on a new GPU. Given your PSU I would choose the GTX 1060 over the RX 480. My 3770S is doing just fine.

Get the GPU first and see how you get on before upgrading the CPU, because for many games the 3320 will be just fine.

I would have thought anything budget or AMD would just be a complete sideways step if you already own an i3 3220.

You have 8gb of DDR3, even if it is only 1600MHz it is adequate and you will see little benefit going to another 8gb kit or 16gb kit.

The real upgrades you need would be an SSD if you don't already own one, and a new graphics card.

Possibly a case upgrade too?

Thanks for all the advice guys, I appreciate it.

Think I'll look into upgrading what I've got for now until I can stretch to a more major upgrade.
