Hi all,

this is my first post. I recently part updated my system to an ASUS P8Z68-LX, 8GB 1600Mhz RAM and an i5-2500k. Now it's time for a GC as I'm using the onboard GPU. I'm looking at spending between 100-120.

What's the general feeling I should go with and should I hold off a little while until the 7000 ATI series are out. Will this force down prices of some of the older cards?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Nick

I was thinking ATI purely because if later down the line I want a second card the Mobo only supports Xfire and not Sli.

Hello and welcome.

As stated above I wouldn't expect much of a price drop- unless Nvidia push down prices once the low/mid range 7000 series arrives.

As for which card- pick how much you want to spend and for the fastest card within that price range ;)

Techpowerup should give you a good idea of the performance of the competing cards.

If xfire is a no go does Lucid Virtu work better with Ati cards or Nvidia or does it really make no odds?

The 460 looks like a good buy although I'm sure a month ago I saw it under £100.
