Budget Laptop

I want to get a laptop on a £400-£500 budget for my son to use for his A level work. It would need wireless networking to connect to the college network and run MS word, Excel etc. Can anyone give me any suggestions. Thanks

It does'nt NEED to run MS word and excel, it can run Open Office Org, which is open source and a free alternative. Which happens to be compatible with MS format files.
