Budget miniDV video camera?

My 3 year old JVC GR-DX97 which has never been used, just charged every other month to keep the battery alive, was plucked from its pristine box this evening to be mounted in my car to record track sessions.

I turned it on to be greeted by a "lens cover" message, unfortunately the lens cover had already been removed. CCD fault. :(

I need a budget (up to £200) miniDV camera that will be suitable for mounting on my clamp, in car and for recording track driving.

I guess it doesn't need to be anything special, just relatively light and compatible with a PC so I can download and edit the video clips. A remote control is required for ease of recording, the mount will be out of reach of the driver.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Look at the Panasonic 3CCD camcorders.

I recently had an NV GS500 which I sold, was 600quid and was lovely! But im sure the 180(?) is around the 200quid mark and a decent camcorder!

I have the Panasonic NV-GS180, 3CCD, 10x optical zoom.

I have only used ot for the normal family event stuff but it is really good, easy to use.

No complaints at all really.

The GS500 did, was good battery life and infrared remote and wired remote, just have a quick google for the 180 and I'm sure it will tell you quickly! :)
