Per my thread in the networks forum I need to expand the ‘hole’ that my BT master sockets sits in ready for the fibre ONT box. As below..

I was all set to borrow one from our local Library of Things but actually out of all tools it’s probably worth having one if these kicking around right?

I have a Wickes, Toolstation, Screwfix and the red catalogue company accessible and just trying to weigh up the next cheap option  I think corded would be fine for any future uses.

This is currently available at the catalogue place for £39, seems like a decent buy? (Also easiest to get to)
Einhell 250W Corded Multi Tool

Better than the Roktor or Wickes in house brands?

there is also vonhaus 300w oscillating multitool for £39 with free delivery with b+q

has 50w extra power, and on the vonhaus website says 2 year warranty although I`m not sure if that is exclusive to buying direct on their website

Ahh the B&Q near us is like 1hr walk (no car, London). I'm thinking the Roktor 300W jobby at Toolstation might be the best bet?

Roktor is so new on the market that virtually no reviews exist but I have had good experience with toolstation as a business and it seems to have 2 year warranty.

I would imagine it is worth a try and you get 5% off if you join the free toolstation club I think.

Ah well thanks for the replies. As it happens we remembered a neighbour up the road is a painter/decorator so a quick message to the street asking if anyone had one — of course he did :p

Now hopefully I don’t kill myself with it, cut our existing internet cables or generally completely fudge it :o

Pre cut using a ruler and a blade?

Do you have a wood chisel?

Take the old socket out and use a hand saw?

Ah well that was a gigantic waste of time. Took everything out, had to remove the door to remove the shelf… Realised that there was barely any room to make the cutout higher because of the shelf being on its top ‘nubbin’ and couldn’t make the cutout much wider due to the shelf holes (well actually we could but hey) and the Ethernet box to the left.

Bumped into my neighbour who just had fibre fitted. I’m pretty sure they can either fit the box over the cutout, or they’ll bring the fibre in through that hole and just put the ONT somewhere inside the cabinet (maybe at the back?). Like this maybe? With the puck cover inside the cutout.
