deepcool lucifer is out of the question, too big for the case.
i`m looking at the Raijintek Themis or the silverstone argon ar01 unless somebody has a better suggestion :D

One thing you can't really skimp on is the motherboard. Don't make the mistake several others have made on here and buy the cheapest board you can find. Some went for the awful 760 chipset boards and then wondered why they keep getting throttling. For overclocking a FX8000 cpu you need a board with good vrm cooling and decent power phases so a decent 970/990 chipset board.

Cooler wise, I would say the smaller Themis won't be up to the job. Overclocked they put out a lot of heat and I would imagine that the 92mm fan would ramp up to full speed pretty quickly. The Raijintek Themis Evo Professional with it's 120mm fan should be ok though it's almost as tall as the Lucifer. Even the Argon AR01 is 159mm tall.

I think that Zalman Z3 is making you make to many compromises grolly and I would go for a better case if you can juggle your budget around.

thanks for the replies guys :D
mobo is sorted gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 (rev 4)
xfx r9 270 x2
16gb corsair ddr3 low profile
xfx 750w xxx edition 80+ silver
thats what i have so far :D
The Raijintek Themis Evo Professional is to big buddy at 165mm and the Raijintek Themis has a 120mm fan.
i`m open to suggestions on the cooler and maybe even the case ;) but that zalman z3 plus ticks a lot of boxes.
but i must stress i need to keep the cost`s down(got a ever spiraling wedding to pay for :( )
cheers
