Hi guys, im building my first rig in nearly 4 years now, im going for a slighty budget sided overclocking system, looking to see what you guys think and maybe any suggestions on anything i could change in the setup.

Cheers in advance

Oh ye btw, trying to keep it under £600. I already have the fans for the heatsink thats why they arent on the list.

It always amazes me that people come to this forum and don't realise it's owned by a shop that sells PC parts.....

surly there a hazard to them selves!

Bit strong mate. I'm going to ignore the source of the image since I can't work out how to get an equivalent image from ocuk, I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt and say he can't work out how to either.

My advice, drop the hiper. Immediately. Go with a lower wattage corsair or ocz. Corsair is nearly always recommended here, but I use and love ocz.

The TRUE is excellent but does need a 120mm fan adding to it if overclocking, this makes it more expensive than I'd expect from a budget computer. It is excellent however.
Similarly to the 2gb of dominator ram, what fsb are you hoping to hit? That should be good up to 533 which is rather high, a more standard choice would be 2x2gb of corsair pc8500 w/out the heatsinks or 4gb of corsair pc6400 of your choice.

The processor is nice. The e5200 or e5300 are similar at about 50 quid less but I tend to feel processor is the most important part of a system. Similarly I've heard good things about that graphics card.
The case is personal preference, I'd go with the antec 300 or akasa eclipse but everyone has their favourites.

Hope that helps :)

Hmmm, gotta stick in a good word for Hipers - they're not all bad. I had the one in the post and am running an 880w right now, and their Q/C has got a lot better than it used to be.

But that said, yeah, better get a Corsair or something else just to be sure :)

In all fairness, my hiper is doing quite well. But its not particularly old, nor heavily stressed. I still don't trust it

Cheers for the advice, the only problem with the PSU is i dont want to shell out the £100 for the Corsair 620, i wouldnt mind getting a Toughpower 750w, should do the trick pretty well. I will have a look at the ram see what i can get for a similar price. Ive already got 2x scythe fans for the heatsink so thats no problem there. The main reason for the case is the space and the good airflow, a m8 had the case and a Ultra 120.. and it was hitting the side of the case so i didnt want to get anything smaller, he also had to upgrade to the 12hundred to fit his 4870x2 comfortably, not sure if the standard 4870 is as large tho. 533FSB sound good enough for me.. im hoping for roughly a 4GHz OC on this chip.. anything about would be a bonus.

Oh another question.. is there still a chance of getting D9 chips or ram or are they mainly promo's that you will get these days?

The GFX card is the strange one, from what ive read its one of the best cooling 4870's.. also has better clocks than a standard 4870.. yet is the cheapest in the range @140 from what ive found.

Cheers for the feedback, and sorry about the screenie haha, didnt notice it was overclockers.co.uk forum, just google'd a OC forum.

Its been a long time since ive built a new system.. my current one is a

X2 4200+ @ 2.9Ghz (325x9)
Corsair XMS DDR400 @ DDR539 4-4-4-8(strangely good ram)
Asus A8R32 MVP Deluxe
Corsair TX 550w
Sapphire X1950XT 512mb

A system that has done me well OC 24/7 for close to 4 years i think now.

I missed the screenie so i have'nt a clue what the spec was. Chances are you will need no-where near a 750w psu. The rig in my siggy plus a pair od Sata Hdd's, Sata optical drive, Zalman ZM-MFC2 multifunction controller and 3x 120mm fans and 2x 92mm fans draws a maximum of 274w at the wall while running Orthos and Fur stability test at the same time. That's 100% load on cpu and gpu which you will not achieve in normal use. A quality 500w psu will most likely be enough.

If you are going with a E5000 series cpu don't aim for 4Ghz as you will end up dissapointed. Very few will get near 4Ghz and most max out around 3.6Ghz. Other's have been stuck as low as 3.2Ghz though.
