Hi everyone,

I wonder if people would be kind enough to provide any feedback on the following spec for a relatively low budget pc. At the moment it prices at about £490 but depending on feedback i could increase budget for better components + £60

As for the graphics card, in the past i have never been really involved in gaming, but i thought for this build, if i chose something half capable, then given the option i could start gaming. I would also like to gradually learn about the joys of overclocking!!!

Anyway enough of the waffle, here's the spec i have at the mo:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 95w edition Go Stepping L2 8Mb processor £105.07
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro £15.49
Antel 300 Case £35.34
2 x Hiper 120mm Case Fans for the front £11.97
Samsung HD753LJ 750gb SATA II 7200rpm £58.73
Optiarc AD 7201s DVDRW £16.95
Sapphire HD 3650 512MB GDDR3 Daula DVI TV out PCI-E Graphics Card £45.99
Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2gb) DDR2 800MHZ/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory £54.99
Hiper 580W Type M Black PSU ~£38.57
ASUS P5k Premium Wifi-AP IP35 Socket 775 Motherboard £98.67

I'm not quite sure about the motherboard, memory and graphics card, whether i could get more "bang per buck"!!!

Thanks in advance.

Shaun

As you're new to OCing, you could start with an e7200 (dual core) rather than a quad. Change the hyper fans for sharkoon or nexus/yate loon fans, hyper PSU for anything from enermax, corsair, antec, and change the P5k for the P5Q.

As far as the graphics card goes, a 4850 would be an ideal choice, it really is worth saving the extra. 3650 isn't really a gaming card imho.

everything else looks fine.

Oh, and welcome to the forums :)

Or if you wont stretch to the 4850, the 3850s are going DIRT cheap now, and will be quite a way above the 3650 for only about 10 quid more, unfortunately they have sold so well OCuk dont have them in stock anymore :(
