Hi,
I've been trundling along on my oc'd quad core for quite some time and I need an update badly because I need to run a lot more vm's than I am now. So that brings me to update city and the fact that I can't splash out thousands on new gear. I play a few games now and then but not that much so any opinions on what I have chosen below would be greatly appreciated. I intend to try and use my current 650w psu until it dies.

AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+)
Antec Kúhler H2O 620 Series 4 CPU Watercooler
Avexir MPower Yellow Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C10 1600MHz
Asus GeForce GTX 650 DirectCU 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
Gigabyte 970A-UD3 AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

I already have a samsung 256 ssd and the main os will be Fedora ;)

A decent air cooler should be enough, or there are the refurbished Corsair models for big savings.

The GTX 650 isn't great - the 650 Ti's a better model for not much more. Will you be playing games in Fedora or Windows - if Windows, I'd go for a 7790 instead.

I'd spend a little more on the board (like the Gigabyte UD3) to make it more future proof for next gen CPUs.

I went for the watercooler because it's only 42 quid so i thought why not.
I'll be playing games on steam in Fedora because that will be my workhorse and although I'll be dual booting it will be for necessity only. I hae to use windows in work every day and am trying to get away from it.

The board is a gig ud3, or did I pick you up wrong?

Ah, I meant the 990FX UD3, sorry.

If you're playing games in Fedora, stick to nvidia - but the 650 Ti is something like £5 more than the 650. If you can afford the bit extra for the 650 Ti Boost, I'd get that.

The Corsair H100 refurb is £39, I think.
