i need a new budget PSU as i will be upgrading my graphics card as well as RAM and all i have right now is some crap PSU to do me till i get a new one.

I'm looking at about £50/£60 to spend which isn't much for a PSU but i need a new graphics card and more RAM so i don't have much for the PSU.

**I'll be getting a Nvidia 9600 or if i can strech a 9800 so need enough power for one of them as well the rest of my sysem.

Cheers for any suggestions

The words budget and PSU are impossible to fit in the same sentence and should NEVER be used together, in my opinion.

If I were you, I'd get good quality, well known, branded one. I think with your price range you could actually get something decent enough. Post your spec so what you actually need can be ascertained!

By budget i was actually meaning a quality branded PSU thats not very expensive as opossed to crappy PSU thats cheap.

as for specs I have an E2180 dual core, 1 Sata + 1 IDE HDD, 1gb ram and an x1650xt graphics card at the moment but will be getting a nvidia 9600 or possibly an ati eqivelent card soon and an extra 2Gb RAM along with this PSU.

Welcome to the forums. :)

Whilst Hiper have had their fair share of bricks that blow up, the Type-M is a pretty sturdy PSU. I have one that is now in its 3rd machine and has been running fine for 2 years.

However, I did change the fan as it was quite loud which does void warranty but not all are loud. I must have had one of a few.

The Corsair VX 450W would power your rig no problem as the 9xxx Nvidia cards dont take a lot of power.

YES, it is good choice... don't get bothered by "blow up"
Couple of Corsairs, Enermax did so too...

so don't listen and buy - but price was £41 befo`
Corsair which was listed above is good aswell, but maybe 430W won't be enought if you do more upgrades later!

Still recomend the PC P&C though they seem to of stopped doing the 470W, you could get the 610 but its £70, slightly over your budget. Antec make a good range of reasonably priced PSU's

I would recommend the Corsair VX 450 or PC Power & Cooling PSUs (although the 550W-ish one seems to have disappeared :() if you don't want to spend too much. Shouldn't need to anyways with your spec.

In the end I went for the Gigabyte Odin GT 550W as it was the only modular PSU within my price range :) I use it to power a C2D E8400 at stock 3.0Ghz, Asus P5Q Pro mobo and HIS Radeon 4850 128MB IceQ.
