Hi Guy

Just after some help picking a budget PSU to run the following spec:

I3 6100
Asus H110M-K
Crucial MX300
MSI 1060 3gb
8 gig of ram
1 fan
dvd player.

Budget is £45 max and it needs to be quiet. I have been looking at the EVGA 500W and XFX XT500.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

With the current state of pricing you are not going to get much for your money at the lower end of the market. Personally I wouldn't go for either of the two you have picked. The XFX is designed by Seasonic but built by a third party company and uses cheap internals while the EVGA is a budget HEC built unit who are not very good quality. I would find a little extra and buy either the Antec VPF450 which is a Delta built unit with dual 12v rails totalling 420w or the Superflower Golden Green HX450w which is on special offer at the moment. It's a gold rated unit with a single 12v rail of 444w and is built by Superflower themselves. It also has a 5 year warranty which says a lot about the quality you are paying for. Either has more than enough to power your pc with plenty of power to spare.

If it can draw in air from outside the case it should be fairly quiet. It's not going to be silent, nothing will be at anywhere near that price. If you want silence then you need to spend a lot more and go for one of the units with a semi-passive fan mode or a full passive unit but those are really expensive.

Fair point. Im not used to purchasing psu's at this price point lol.
Anyone tried the Superflower Platinum king 450?
Thanks

I spoke to my brother in law who I'm building the system for and managed to increase the budget slightly.
I decided to order the following psu.

Superflower Leadex GOLD 550W.

Thanks for your help.
