can you do any better, or is there anything ive missed

thanks in advance

For the same price you can get a Gigabyte GA_965P_S3 motherboard. I'd definitely get that instead. It's a very good overclocker so as to get the best out of the E2140.

You're really better off having him save a little more so you can get some higher quality components that will perform better.

i was torn between the 2, but i thought hed like the option of sli and if the evga 650 is owt like my evga 680i it will also be a great clocker but i cant see him pushing it past 2.8 tbh

what do you think

also he has only got £300 mate ive allready said this to him, but it pretty upgradable and 2 gb ram is a good start

For instance, this is what a little more money buys, including GPU.

I could be more helpful but I don't know how well the E21 series C2Ds overclock.

i know mate ;)

he said £200 and wanted a complete system from a car boot sale

i talked him round to uping his budget to £300 saying we could build a c2d rig if i lend him some bits so thats where im at

trying to persuade him to go for this a bit more ommph for gaming and overclocking in the e4300 and a bigger case:

Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU £59.99

There you go.

You could add a CPU cooler or an E2160 to take it up slightly over budget. It should clock to 3GHz too. :)

similar to my original spec, dont you think the lower l2cache of the e2140 will be missed ?

also the bigger case will hold more stuff/ run cooler me thinks

I can't see the cache making much difference. I'd much rather contribute the money to a better graphics card.

As for the case? How much stuff is he going to be fitting in? It's only a budget rig, I don't think he'd have any problem with the NSK4400.

Obviously it's your call though. :)

yes its budget now but clock the e4300 and fit an 8800 gtx in the sonata and its a monster (may need a new psu)

wont fit that card in a nsk 4400 ;)
