Indeedy - I have only have a budget of about £50 for a new sound card. At the moment I'm using a Soundblast Live 5.1 and it's beginning to sound like read me. I was thinking of getting an Audigy 4. I didn't want to get a 5.1 card but I can't afford anything greater. I hear that it's better to just get a stereo card like an M-Audio jobbie.

Is it really true that stereos is better than surround? [for music rather than games since I don't play games that often].

Should I really go for the Audigy or splash out a tiny bit more for a stereo card and get some new speakers?

Well there isn't much music recorded in surround, is there? It's all in stereo - so having a surround setup for music is a bit redundant, tbh.

I have the optical out from my on-board sound going into my Sony HiFi, sounds great :)
