Hey guys,
Just back from suspension (again) yay.

Anyway I just wanted to ask you guys if you could spec me a £300 or less rig.

I've come up with one that's around 400 but I've found one for just under £300 from dell.

It will be running a CCTV system and connecting to our company network program from over at the warehouse. Basically we want to be able to log in through PC Anywhere or similiar program to see the CCTV footage at any time.

The specs listed from the camera people say this:

P3 800
128mb SDRAM
80GB hdd
Geforce 2, 32mb VRAM.

So basically anything will work. It will need the cheapest screen possible, Office and windows XP.

Good luck! I'm just asking you guys because I don't want to see him buy from dell but I couldn't beat their price this time =/

Best off going second hand or going dell. You can make a very cheap spec, but xp, office and a screen pushes it too high.

Yea I made a spec for £196 not including VAT. XP and Office were more then that. Office is insanely expensive. The monitor as well is another £100. =/

You can get a cheap 17" CRT for £70 or thereabouts, and XP Home OEM goes for as low as £50. I don't know which Office apps you use, if just Word will do you could get MS Works - an old version would only cost you a tenner or so (new of course), or perhaps you could go for one of the free open source alternatives?
