Budget Tablet for Xmas

We've a couple of older Samsung 10" budget tablets. Like to upgrade them to something newer.

Current tab 7 seems dated. Is it worth going to the S6 lite if I can get one. Or just get an ipad? We've no apple devices in the house.

There's not much between them. They have very slightly different strengths and weakness'.

The Android because comes with the pen, compatibility with current games, common charger, better screen aspect cheaper. Better front cam.

The apple though has more OS updates a better pen (one kids into their art) could be used Apple Video with other Apple users. Better Battery. Image.

Maybe I'll get one each. (I'm buying two),

The apple is lot more expensive by the time you add the pen.
