My parents PC is in need of an upgrade. Ideally would like to shrink it down to a mini ITX case as well as it's taking up too much space as is.

Budget as close to £250 will be ideal.

Current build:
Intel E8400
MSI P35-Neo motherboard
4GB (2x2GB) DDR2
ATI HD6670 (new)
500GB HDD (really needs replacing as it's 10 years old)
Corsair CX430 (new)

So far I've got:
Intel i3-4330 £95
Asus H81L-Plus motherboard £59
Corsair 4GB 2x2GB DDR3 RAM ~£40 (do I want 1333 or 1600:confused:)
WD Caviar Blue 500GB £40
Lian-li Q-01B case £48
Total: £282, £30 over budget.

Your current pc would be fine, get a small SSD for Windows and a new Hard drive for documents and that system will be fine, only downsides would be the size of the system.

Edit:

You're probably right. The PC seems very slow lately but it could be because it's full of junk. The size could still be a problem though as they keep talking about replacing it with a cheap laptop to save space. I doubt I would find a socket 775 mini ITX? I have a redundent AMD X3 450 if that's any better?

That looks good. I take it the G3430 would still be a good step up from the E8400? I have two sticks of 2GB DDR3 10666 already which if they will work would save a bit too.
