So I currently have a HD 6950. I am on a relatively small budget and want to spend most of it on a new monitor.

Would crossfire 6950's be capable of gaming on 1440p?

I play mostly RPGs atm (Divinity, Diablo 3, also play Payday 2) and don't need amazing FPS 35-60 is fine, I just want it to look good. Current monitor 27' Iiyama

I'd sell your 6950 and put the cash towards your gpu budget, get either a 290 or 780.

You might get away with it (especially in payday 2, don't know first hand about the others) however if you've just the one 6950 at the moment I'd just wait and upgrade to something meatier in the GPU department at the same time. Something with 3 or 4GB of vRAM.

I run 1440p on 2GB SLI 670s and some games are limited.

Oh wow higher resolution is more taxing than I thought.

Alright thanks very much guys. Budget is realistically £400(EDIT: that's 400 for ALL upgrades)... Just isn't going to cut it.

Also I don't want to upgrade my gfx card until I can get the better monitor, I see no point in just getting a new card while I'm using 1080p as my current card runs things well enough.
