Hi guys,
First off, just like to say hello!
Been browsing the forums for a while now and getting some ideas in my head, it has been useful but need to discuss it.

I've been trying to sort a machine reasonable to render and edit HD video on a budget. I dont have the money or inclination to throw money at the latest stuff sadly.

Right now I have an Intel E4500 on ASUS P5g41t-LX (which is new)
My aim was to get a Q6600 quad.
I have 4gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz DDR3
I was thinking i could get away with a decent spec for not a massive amount
But I realised the Mobo is crap (too small, 2 dimm, GPU blocks PCI slots) and im struggling to find a decent 775 mobo for around £80
Which has made me think that I'm stupid for building a system around an older generation.

I was thinking maybe overclocked i3 set up untill i have money for i5.
Someone said the i3 OC is faster than a q6600?

Or maybe some sort of AMD thing?

So basically I want to replace my CPU and Mobo for under or around £80 each

Has anyone got any good suggestions?

I dont use it for gaming, but I may do at some point.

I have a AC7 cooler and ASUS nvidia gt430 with a 650w PSU.
I apologise for the lengthy first post, im hoping to get it sorted ASAP
Thanks for any help. :)
Joe

Thanks. Pretty useful tool that.

The only thing holding me back is the prospect of upgrading to i5 in a few months if i go the i3 route for now.

Although could get a phenom x6 etc
