Hi all...it's been along time but I think it's time to upgrade but on a budget. My current pc is Ryzen 5800 . Rtx 4070 ti ...basically I'm thinking keep the GPU and upgrade board chip and ram. Obviously I would have to go to a am 5 board. Do you guys think I would see an improvement if I swapped my CPU . Any ideas and possible CPU,boardand ram recommendations would be most welcome. Ideally my budget would be around £700. - £800

well if you've already got a 4070ti, I'd go with some sort of variant of below

non rgb fan same price but 6000c30 instead

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £809.98 (includes delivery: £0.00)

below is interesting as shows how the 9800x3d compares while 4k gaming(using upscaling which a lot of people do while 4k gaming) the 9800x3d can really pull away

and below shows how the 9800x3d compares with the 7800x3d, the 2nd best gaming cpu you can buy

Cheers bud .. I only game at1440 ATM I've got plans to go 4 k. My current CPU is water cooled so will I be able to reuse this witha new CPU?
if it's an aio, then should fit am5 no problem as use same fittings, but best to double check with manufacturer website
If you game at 1440p, then looking at the 4k upscales results will show you how the 9800x3d performs anyway (1st vid)..as 4k upscaling is basically using the 1440 image as base thouigh side by side shows 1080/1440 and 4k(2nd vid)
