I think now is the time to consider upgrading my X1950 Pro, but dosh is very tight.

I will only be using my old 19" Acer, so 1440x900 with be my max resolution and I'd like to play games at High, but not bothered about maxing everything out.

I know everyone will say the 4850, but that's too much at the moment, so would the 4670 range be a big enough upgrade?

I have a 620w Corsair, which I presume will be up to the job?

Yeah, 4670's don't even require an external pci-e power connection. But Imost people here would suggest a 2nd hand 8800GT from the MM I reckon.

OcUK did the 3870's for £70 but sold out now. Still, i msure you can still find 3870's for £70 (same price as 4670 but slightly better for gaming) or get a second hand 8800GT which is cheaper and even better! I can get you in direct contact with a guy who wants to sell if you want, but i don't know if this allowed to be discussed on here haah.

You can't really discuss that here unfortunately mate.

How much better would an 8800 GT be than the 4670 then?

Hmm well a 4670 is inbetween a 3850 and a 3870 and the 8800Gt is about 10-15% better than a 3870. SO i'd say for the same/less price an 8800Gt will give you a 20%ish boost over the 4670 and its very good with AA and AF i believe.

Does your PSU have the cables for it? Just one 6 pin i think it needs

Got an 8800gt the other week off a mate and slapped on the £13 accelero s1 v2 with a zalman 120mm fan.

Silent at 7V, max load is 46, overclock easy up from 625 to 700, and easy to volt mod with a few wires to solder and POT to change the voltage.

At 1680x1050 on crysis with the natural mod im getting a solid playable framerate with everything on high (bar post processing effects). Cost my £50 and the difference between this and the x1900xt is very noticable.
