Buying my girlfriend one for Christmas. She'd be happy with the cheap 40 quid all in ones, but I've been looking at the Lenco l85. It gets great reviews and is only £80.

Can anybody suggest an alternative? The Lenco L30 is newer and seems similar but I'm not sure what's better. Also, any advice on half decent speaker around £70?

Cheers

Hi guys, thanks for the input. On my phone so forgive if I miss some of you.

SHoOsH - I would go second hand for myself but it might be a headache if I go second hand for my girlfriend. I wouldn't know where to start when checking them out.

Mcthommo - She will most likely be disgracing the Gods of music by playing vinyl from her favourite band, the 1975. I think the l85 has a built in Phono stage so I just need to get some powered speakers. (I think?)

lucid - Thanks, think I'll stick to the l85 then. I'll check out those speakers now sure. Am I right in saying powered speakers are the way to go with this vinyl?

TALON1973 - I know haha, she was under the impression this would be a nice cheap present. 40 - 50 quid all in. So even the l85 is a big step up. I've pushed her towards this level because of those fears, but to be honest I think she will use it for a week then leave it to gather dust.

Thanks again everyone

I've ordered the Edfier R1600T speakers lucid. Ordering the Lenco l85 tonight, held off as I thought I could pick it up somewhere local but they were out of stock, nightmare.

Looking forward to using it myself haha.

Ha! Don't worry I've told her she has to call them records. Thanks for the help, she loves it.

Those speakers sound amazing, this is coming from someone who just uses the tv or a bluetooth speaker to listen to music btw so I'm no audiophile. But I listened to the old Disney record and it was so clear. Very impressed. We'll be heading to Belfast to pick up some old records soon. I'll be getting some heavy rock, and I'll buy her dad some luke kelly as he loves traditional Irish music.

Thought I was doomed for a bit. She text me on Christmas telling me it wasn't playing sound. I had to reply with a guess, "is there plastic covering the needle?". Job done haha
