So budget is pretty tight, around $800 (for a colonial friend).

Basics are it needs to be able to handle messing around with the Unity engine and also be ok with gaming (as in the games on the Unity engine). My personal preference would be to make something that's a good upgrade platform for a Ryzen system so motherboard should at least be able to handle current gen Ryzen 3000's and hopefully the next gen so it'll have some shelf life to it.
Start with something around the Ryzen 3600?

Would it be better to wait for the B550 motherboards or just grab an X570? Advice, opinions all welcome.

Monitor, keyboard, mouse not required, case just needs to functional but not a horrid build or cleaning experience.
