All you people who slagged off Gates in the recent thread, I challenge you to **** this man off.

" Warren Buffet , the world's second richest man, announced over the weekend that he will soon donate 85% of his entire net worth, weighing in at around $37 Billion, to charities, with over 80% of it going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This makes it the single largest monetary donation in history."

Wow. Just wow. 85%

I said in the Gates thread that people should pick on him rather than Gates because he hasn't donated much, he just seems to sit on his fortune. Maybe he has spies :)

$37Bn...

I bet his banks absolutely LOVE him! I bet there were some sweaty brows as he announced that one!

He will still have enough money to buy most the Islands in the Pacific aswell :p

I wish i was that rich :(

Good on him though, its better to spend money then just to have it for bragging rights, Use it for what its made for i say

Finally he is actually using his money, this is the guy IIRC who drives a Licoln town car and lives in a 3 bed semi, or something like that.

80% of which goes to Gates Foundation, bill&warren are best mates :/
And the Gates Foundation then distributes it to charities accordingly...surely B&W being mates has had a positive effect here in persuading frugal Buffet to give away his dosh earlier than indicated in the past?

So he has spent his entire life working to build a fortune that he didn't need and couldn't use just to give it away. It seems a bit pointless to me.
