Well after years and years of speculation it looks as if Buffy The Vampire Slayer is getting a revival. Not a reboot but a revival with MOST of the original cast interested in reprising their roles.

To be honest after seeing SMG in Dexter: Original Sin i wondered if she would be up for a reprisal of the character and apparently it has been in the works for a while on Hulu. Buffy and Angel are still some of my fav TV shows ever and i am really happy this could be happening. :)

Where did you see this? I thought the only person involved so far is SMG.

I thought about posting this (I actually had a search because I could have sworn we had a thread when this was heavily rumoured a few years ago)

I have a lot of feelings, it's one of my favourite show of all time. That being said, no Whedon (which I understand) is obviously a giant red flag, can another showrunner create the same feeling? I don't think there were any rumours last time of SMG being involved, I kind of assumed they weren't interested in going back to the character rather than her not being interested. Zhao I don't really know much, it's good to hear she's a super fan and I know she's won awards but she's also never done TV. It's good to hear some writers from the Whedon writing room are involved (The Zuckerman's both worked on Agents of SHIELD). I'd love some of them to be involved from the past (Noxon, Greenburg, Goddard, Espenson, DeKnight, Petrie off the top of my head) A lot of them have gone on to create other great works as showrunners/producers.

Then there is the general concern that most of these revival/reboots have not done well.

Here is SMG's statement for anyone that hasn't seen it:

Well Twin Peaks, Futurama, Sabrina, Doctor Who, BSG?. Veronica Mars was ok too. More in films, particularly horror. Scream has done very well.
BSG was a remake/reimagining and regrettably promising programme that ultimately went up its own backside when they wrote themselves into a corner and had no idea how to get out of it.
Doctor Who started off rather good, lost its way a couple of times, then stuck with the abysmal formula of sidelining the Doctor to make it all about the Companions, while casting stunningly good actors and giving them scripts that wouldn't even sound good if you were on drugs!
