Found this on the floor morning....what on earth is it?? Was about 2 inches long.

I'm guessing some kind of Queen Wasp but I'm not too sure.

That looks like the one. It didn't occur to me that it was capable of flight...I was holding it right up to my face to get a closer look. I think I would have soiled myself if it had taken off.

It is definitely a mean-looking insect, especially the way it rears up like a scorpion.

Says on that link that it doesn't have a sting but has a nasty bite.

Yeah devils coach horse.
Eats rotting plant matter I think.
Sometimes they stick their tail in the air.

Quite interesting little bugs they are.
And they look much more sinister than they behave
