It only impacts a user when running hdmi 2.1 pass through some amps. See this video I posted in another thread.

As long as your amp supports e-arc, which many of last years receiver's do now via FW update, then personally I think it better going direct to the TV anyway as it gives you full control over the picture settings.

While it looks the solution for now, using eARC, LG seems to have a myriad of issues with it. From audio delays, passthrough issues, and downright incompatibilities with certain kit it's a minefield I don't want to paint myself into.

Also, the resale value of these affected AVR units will be substantially less if it turns out that a hardware fix is required and not just a software patch for firmware.

The LG definitely has a few niggles in the e-arc department, not sure why, Youtube for example on my set is very delayed using the YouTube app, hoping when I grab the new ChromeCast it might solve a few issues, but yeah, I definitely wouldn't be grabbing a 2.1 HDMI AV Receiver right now, even with e-arc issues.
