Just came home to find a little thunderfly running about my dell 2007WFP...

I had to send back my viewsonic for this problem :(

What should I do?

a.) kill it and put an end to it once and for all but have it stuck there

b.) find receipt and return monitor

c.) sell it

d.) Hope it just goes somewhere i cant see it - and dies there.

We had one of these threads recently and I think about the best advice I saw was to turn the screen off and try to attract it out with a light and heat source, maybe a desk lamp or something behind the screen (so some of the light gets in the ventilation holes at the back).

exactly what I would suggest, also somewhere where there is little or no ambient lighting (garage?)

That's probably the way to go, sounds like the most sensible option to me.

These things seem to be everywhere these days :( I had one in my 2405 two years ago. It died in the middle of the screen. I gently tapped the screen and it fell to the bottom.

Its a big problem with LCDs

quoted best idea

I have a couple of these carcasses in my 19" lcd that got in last summer. They better not do the same to my new 22" LG coming tommorow!

Damn this new monitor is nice! Once i adjusted the res and fov in Red Orchestra i had no idea just how much extra i can see now thanks to the added res. Overly bright though, i had to drop the settings well below what was recommended on guru3d for my eyes. :D

HI i got 22" lg monitor 4 weeks ago and sorry to say i have 2 dead buggers in view ,been dead for a couple of days and have not shiffted , anyone got any other ideas on how to shift dead ones? little b*****ds

if your brave and the moniter is out of warrenty dissmantle it it isnt really that hard ive stripped a few for diffrent projects.

got 3 which have died, all near middle of screen

anyway to get them out? (dont think i dare disassemble)

They can appear dead, but most commonly they are not. I just left a torch shining at the corner of my monitor over night when i got one. Came back in the morning and the bug i thought id squished inside had gone.. yay for insects!

Well if they are still alive they must have been sneaking out at night for meals over the last 2 years :D

New screen is the only feasible solution i guess

Where do you guys live and under what circumstances? Because I've never had this problem and Ive never heard anyone having this that I know irl.

Turn the monitor off, shine a light/something warm at the top of the screen or wherever the vents are, it should follow.

Worked for me, twice ;)

Couldn't you put something over the vents to stop them from getting in? Like a fabric or something? Obviously something that allows airflow aswell.
