Just got back to uni and my PC isn't powering up. Here is the spec just incase anyone has any idea's as to what's causing it.

A64 3000+
MSI K8N Neo2 Plat
1gb corsair 4400
Hiper 520

My first thoughts were the psu seeing as these have a record of going boom but I'm getting the red "Hi, I'm getting power" sign on the switch so I presume it's not that. That brings me to the conclusion that it's the motherboard...

More or less I'm not exactly sure what it could be but am just wondering if there's anything textbook that I haven't tried yet.

Thanks or any help.

No HDD activity, no signs of life at all infact apart from the red power switch saying "Yes that socket does work!"

Come to think of it I was being stupid and touching (Just brushing, not like snapping and bending) my mobo a bit before I came here (The voltage regulators and some capacitors), purely because I'm a curious idiot :p anyone know if this is enough to knacker it?

Do you have any mates with similar specification PCs that you could use to test the parts? Swapping parts around is the easiest way to determine the cause of the problem. :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably manage to steal a couple of things off of a mate, am simply wondering if there's anything blindingly obvious I haven't checked (i.e. when a pc won't go past the bios, reset the cmos).

just in case some of the components have become unseated or something like that.

The only thing I can think of that would stop it powering up is the CPU right? I mean without RAM, 3dcard or hdd's the juice would still flow. I just can't see how the cpu could become unseated.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check all cables again to make sure I'm not being stupid :p
